Just got back from three days gathering in Guernsey County, OH. Found scads of eggs/caterpillars to bring back for our 9/10 mass release. This place is the home of a large Amish/Mennonite colony and it strikes me that may be why I found so much milkweed and so many cats - I don't think they use chemical sprays - ie. NO Round-up to kill the milkweed!
For anyone thinking of visiting, the area north of Salt Fork State Park is incredibly beautiful farmland, big rolling hills, lovely scenic backroads, lots of photography opportunities, truly heavenly. Just drive carefully and watch out for horse-drawn buggies and hay-wagons, particularly towards dusk when they come in from their work in the fields.
