Monarch Adult Sighted

Date: 08/03/2011

Number: 1

I don't know what's going on in central Illinois this year, but as of today I have seen ONE monarch. I was starting to think I'd see a unicorn before I saw a monarch. In years past I would have released a dozen of them by now. The only things eating my milkweed are milkweed bugs and (ugh) japanese beetles. i didn't know japanese beetles even ate milkweed, but they're ravaging it. I've had lots of black swallowtail caterpillars on my fennel,
