Monarch Adult Sighted

Date: 08/22/2011

Number: 1

Individual adult monarchs have been seen regularly flying over and landing on rows of tropical milkweed in our garden. Occasionally I witness egg laying. So far this month I have brought about 30 cats of various stages to my sanctuary inside my house. Five adults have emerged, several are still in chrysalis stage, and as of this morning the last two cats are hanging in the prepupal j stage. I noticed two small cats in the garden yesterday and will look for them and hopefully more to harvest today. This year I am sharing the miraculous transformation with our local senior citizen center. They are enjoying checking the sanctuary everyday for changes and to see if a butterfly has emerged.
