While searching for monarch larva in a field in Maine, I saw one female Monarch butterfly laying eggs. She went from plant to plant for many minutes, curled her abdomen under the leaf, and deposited an egg each time she landed. It was amazing to watch. When these eggs mature, they will be the batch that migrates!
