On 8/18 and 8/19 while mowing ditches in Superior Township, McPherson County, Kansas, I counted 53 and 47 monarchs respectively. They seemed to be feeding on the wildflowers in the mornings when we mowed. Today, 8/22 I saw 15 in the late afternoon while mowing. These are all different roads within the township, and I only counted going away from home and not during the return trip home, so as not to count any twice. I have seen only a few that looked like they were in actual migration flight. The rest were feeding.
