After quite a bit of anxiety, I have finally seen a few monarchs, about 6 to 8 at a time, and last week saw the first caterpillar. Yesterday, 8/23/11, I saw 3 more cats. They seem very late this year. I have been quite worried. I have 2 large stands of milkweed in my garden, as well as several other milkweeds scattered around. Many small plants have begun to grow as the milkweeds reseed. I have a monarch waystation registered with monarchwatch.org. There are fewer monarchs in my garden this year than in the past.
