Visited a property in the Pinelands that has 16 feeders. RT Hummers come in squeaky/buzzy waves of 25-50 to feed, then it falls silent, and a minute later another wave arrives. The homeowner spends 45 minutes daily filling feeders suctioned to the picture window and hanging on a bare tree near a pond with a dripper, dispensing a gallon of nectar a day!
An observer said that earlier in the season it was a 50-50 M/F ratio. The adult males must have moved on because there were very few today, most were females and juv males.
Wanted to see the spectacle today as the hurricane is coming into NJ tomorrow afternoon. Hang on little hummers!
