We have seen plenty of female ruby-throat hummingbirds during the last few weeks. We had winter hummers last year, but after the end of April, we did not see any hummingbirds for a couple of months. We try to plant flowers that will attract hummers, but we also have 3 feeders on our patio, year round. Today, when I was in the process of refreshing the feeders, no sooner had I replaced one and come back inside to get the other, a female ruby-throat landed on the fresh feeder. That has happened a few times, almost like they are "waiting to be fed" like our dog!
