Monarch Fall Roost

Date: 08/28/2011

Number: 75

I went to my favorite backyard where the monarchs come through on their migration. I saw about 50 - 75 butterflies and I was able to tag 12. The others were too high up in the trees. Last year, on Aug. 27, I saw hundreds more than tonight. We are hoping that this is just the beginning and we will see many more tomorrow evening. The people who live there said the migration has been a few days later than usual. It was 5:30 pm when I went out there. The temperature was beautiful, 71 degrees and there was no wind.
