Monarch Adult Sighted

Here in my part of Southeastern Michigan (about 35 miles from Windsor, Ontario) I have not seen many monarchs in the past 10 days or so. Last night I cut some fresh milkweed and found only 3 cats - 2 were second instar and the third was fourth instar. I know from Debbie Jackson who lives about 12 miles from me that there is still some egg-laying going on. However, I haven't seen it here nor have I found eggs here.

I spoke to my friend who had monarchs roosting on his property last fall (August 28-September 4) but he has seen very few flying. The monarchs that he sees in migration are the ones that have crossed Lake Erie from Pt. Pelee. He has had no activity yet. In fact, he has seen only four or five monarchs in the past week.

We seem to be in some sort of a lull. I certainly hope we begin to get some movement soon.
