Monarch Adult Sighted

Date: 08/29/2011

Number: 23

I was helping my husband bleed the brakes on the truck. My view of the back yard was limited due to the hood being raised. I could see several milk weed plants, just a few blossoms on the butterfly bush, some golden rod and the backdrop of the neighbors green bushes over the top of the wooden fence. Often they would fly towards the green bushes or the golden rod, but never land. Twice when landing on the milkweed, they kept their wings closed and remained for 15 to 20 seconds. I did not watch constantly, as I was also using a piece of paper to make notes for something else. Once it seemed that two monarchs were 'chasing' each other.
