Hummingbird Sighting (Adult Male)

Date: 09/02/2011

Number: 6

Following Hurricane Irene in late August 2011 the number of hummers at my 3 feeders increased from 1 male and 3 female Ruby throated to 2 males and 6 females. A neighbor has since reported to me he found two dead hummingbirds in his yard (he couldn't provide any more detail). My daily visitors are back down to 2 males and 4 females as of today. They rarely visit the two massive oaks over run by trumpet vines across the street as those blooms have all but disappeared. They frequent a nearby butterfly bush when not at my feeders. October 10, 2010 I noted that I had no more hummingbird visitors - let's see what happens this year!
