Monarch (OTHER Observations)

Date: 09/03/2011

Number: 1

On August 26th monarchs were feeding and laying eggs on milkweed. With the hurricane approaching, we dug up 8 large plants and gathered eggs and newly hatched caterpillars from the garden. We now have over 100 caterpillars in the garage. Much our garden was damaged by the wind. However we still have a protected area with plenty of milkweed nectaring plants. We have seen only one adult in the yard after the storm and have decided to rear our caterpillars in a large cage on our sceened porch.
