Hummingbird Sighting

Date: 09/02/2011

Number: 6

I'm still seeing males and females around the feeder. At one point this week, there were up to 6 chasing each other and trying to keep each other away from the feeder. (I added a second feeder) They sit in the tree right near the feeder, and when a hummer swoops in, the "guard" jumps into action. I am not sure it's always the same bird, but one definetly was returning to the same branch to wait for the next interloper. I'm wondering if my local birds aren't territorial about passing birds trying to drink?
