September 12: 12 monarchs
The "roost" is up 3 more tonight...have an even dozen.
September 11: 9 monarchs
We still have a roost after all...albeit "tiny"! Found 9 individuals roosting together tonight.
September 10
I believe our roost is finished for the year. We do have some stragglers here, but I did see Monarch caterpillars here just 7 days ago, so they may be "newly emerged " individuals we're seeing.
September 8: 19 monarchs
Wind out of the north today and the bulk of the roost has flown the coop. Have just a small handful of Monarchs in the yard and grove tonight...I'd say less than 20 as far as we can tell...scattered about here and there.
September 7: 120 monarchs
Have at least double what we had "in the grove and yard" as we had last night...about 100-120 Monarchs. Have at least 200 in the pasture before last light tonight! Wonder if they over night there as well???
September 6: 62 monarchs
Could account for 5 dozen Monarchs in the roost tonight...were widely spread out so harder to find.
September 5: 62 monarchs
Regained some numbers in the Monarch Roost here tonight. Approximately a hundred individual Monarchs in the grove and yard.
September 4: 36 monarchs
Roost dropped significantly - this a.m. Monarchs were rising high above the acreage tree tops and brisk N winds were taking them quickly away to the south.
Roost only had 3 dozens Monarchs this evening.
We do still have caterpillars here in the pasture.
September 3: 300 monarchs
Our first confirmed fall roosting of the season tonight! 300+ individuals in the acreage trees...follows a cold front and storm systems passing through the last couple days.
