This is my first season in NC as we moved here from Vermont in November, 2010. I am still seeing many hummingbirds at my 3 feeders, just as many as I have seen since the end of April. They seem to be very dependent on my constant supply of food for them. I saw a break of about 4 weeks when they were nesting - no hummers! then gradually the fledglings came around testing out their flying skills and we saw sooo many more of them. I amcurious to see how long they will hang around. In VT they were gone by the second week of August.
