For week ending 9/4, hummingbird activity peaked on Tuesday 9/30. Up to 4 individuals spotted at 1 time that day. Only 1 observation of male ruby-throated during week (on 9/30). Territorial behavior by one hummer 9/29-30, perched in trees, crepes and on feeder poles. After 9/30, activity has decreased, no more than 1 hummer seen at any time. Activity very sporadic. Strong NE/N winds from Tropical Storm Lee starting 9/31 through 9/4. First cold front expected 9/5, 3+ weeks earlier than normally seen. Location west Houston.
