Monarch Adult Sighted

Date: 09/04/2011

Number: 2

About 11:30 am a male monarch in good condition was seen nectaring on my butterfly bush. A female monarch in good condition was laying eggs on the milkweeds in the garden nearby. When the female came by to nectar, the male left off nectaring and chased her. She left and the male returned to nectar. The female later returned to lay eggs. She had no preferences, laid eggs on any of the milkweeds available and in any order: butterflyweed, common milkweed, tropical milkweed, swamp milkweed. This scenario repeated itself once during my observation time, which was split. I was walking out of the house to run and errand, then walking in on my return.
