Monarch Adult Sighted

Date: 09/01/2011

Number: 1

I was at my favorite Milkweed patch in Teaneck, NJ again and spotted a lone Monarch Butterfly again. It flew off. I searched the plants near where I saw the Monarch and found an egg. It hatched today and I will be bringing it to school on Thursday so my students can follow the wonder formation of this tiny creature into a glorious Monarch Butterfly. We will release the Monarch to begin its trip to Mexico. This has been a great year for me. I am rearing Monarch caterpillars that I found in the wild. I now have 9 caterpillars that have changed into chrysalises another one that is in the J stage and 2 others who will be changing into chrysalises in a few days. My students and I will be having a wonderful beginning of school.
