The attached image is very unusual. There were 7 Ruby-throats on the feeder and two more hovering. We had just seen two female Ruby-throats on the same feeder just a couple of days before.
Granted, we have seen multiple Black-chinned Hummingbirds on the same feeder, but never Ruby-throats. We also have Rufous Hummingbirds in other pictures with the Ruby-throats. But, this was the only one with seven on the feeder.
The picture was taken on Aug 31. Our hummingbird population had increased by about a factor of 4 compared to just a few days before. At the time, we may have had 30 to 40 in the same garden. Since then, it has dropped back down to our normal 5 to 10.
