Still seeing hummers. We have quite a few at the feeders, often 7-10 at a time. The remaining birds seem to be eating the same amount of food, despite the departure of the males. Many eat simultaneously at feeders adjacent to each other. I find it a bit difficult to discern females from juveniles, but some females are "our" hummingbirds that have returned from previous years so we can ID them. We have one female that has a white spot on her head, is that unusual? WE are not looking forward to their departure. Meeting their heavy feeding needs has been a real commitment in time, so we will be freed of that when they leave. All in all we hope that the great number we had this year return next year. They are absolutely fascinating.
