When I got home from work, around 6:30pm, I noticed that my pot of parsley had been devoured, not a leaf left. There were several Swallowtail caterpillars, some large, some small, and what I think may be 2 very small Monarch caterpillars. The small caterpillars looked nothing like the Swallowtails. They were dark on both ends, with a light band in the middle. If anyone knows what they might be, please let me know.
It seems very late for the butterflies to be producing young. I usually see these caterpillars earlier in the summer. I have not seen many butterflies this summer. On my way home from work I bought some organic parsley to put in the pot. Not sure if they will eat it.
