Saw twelve monarchs this morning at 7AM CT in two of my monarch gardens. Eleven were "pristine", eye-popping color, no damage so I assume they eclosed on my farm. There was one rather tattered, very faded Monarch who likely was a traveler. NO tags visible.
yesterday early evening, I watched one Monarch on a very definitive straight flight path leaving my farm in a S/SW direction. No wavering, no fluttering about-a determined flight pattern. Again, I "assume" this butterfly was beginning his migratory journey.
One monarch eclosed around noon today out in one of my pastures. I continue to monitor four remaining chrysalis in the fields.
