Hummingbird Sighting

Date: 09/12/2011

Number: 2

Two(2) adult female Ruby's, very plump, actively feeding from A.M. to dusk on flowers and feeders. Chasing each other continually. Unafraid, fly and perch within two feet of where I am seated. Buzz me whenever I water the flowers and veggies or filling the other bird's seed feeders. All summer they liked perching on the tomato cages and sun themselves. Six to eight male & female Hummers were here since Spring. Liked chasing the Finches away from the water fountain. The number increased for a few weeks during this Fall's southerly migration. The number started to diminish with the last males' departure on August 28th. My last sighting in 2010 was Sept. 27th.
