I was on a field trip to the I20 Wildlife Preserve with the Llano Estacado chapter of the Master Naturalists Saturday morning. The playa was dry but there were a lot of sunflowers, and the monarchs were visiting the sunflowers. I also saw one near a small pool of water (remnants of a much larger pond). Some of the photographers in the group were trying to get a monarch photo... not sure if any were successful.
