Hummingbird Sighting

Date: 09/08/2011

Number: 620

We camped for vacation in Shawnee State Park Campgrounds, took our feeders and saw many Hummers of different numbers on different days from 09/06/11 thru 09/12/11. Adult males and females and quite a few young?(appeared smaller & less colorful. Kept our feeders busy for the week. Very cool nights 62*F. did not seem to slow their numbers during the day. We live in Williamsburg, Ohio zone 6b (Brown County) and we're back home 09/13/11 and the Hummers are happy to see us return to refill the feeders here as well. We have the Ruby throated Hummingbirds as our local visitors. But we are not sure of two we saw in Shawnee. I thought one was Anna's and really not sure of the other. It had a lot more iridescence than any Hummer I've ever seen. And red and pick coloring. Another camper guessed it to be Calliope? I am not well versed in all of the names but knew it was not common here.
