Hummingbird Sighting (Adult Male)

Date: 09/14/2011

Number: 6

Around 4 feeders that are about 10 feet from each other, there is hummingbird war! There are at least 10 birds trying to feed from each station, so I have had 40 at a time on the porch. I did count the males, and have seen only 6 at one time. The birds sometimes calmly sip side by side and then someone 'says' something wrong and they all fly up! They apparently have sentries who perch and watch, and are so light the stems of the roses don't even move when they land. Some of these are migrating and some have spent the summer here, since there have been a few birds around since April.
