Monarch Adult Sighted

Date: 09/10/2011

Number: 1

On Saturday, there was a good movement of monarch, which appeared to be flying over the greenhouses and trees and dropping into the large butterfly-shaped butterfly garden and large bed of buddlia shrubs at the south end of the building. While busy with helping out with the various butterfly-related events, I was still able to capture and tag from 10 am to 5 pm about 55 pristine, strong monarchs with plump abdomens. Today,Sunday, with very little wind and very similar weather conditions, perhaps 7 migrants seen and captured on the buddleia. End of both days particularly warm.
