Very late in the morning I walked out on my back patio to find one adult female and one juvenile Ruby-throat of undetermined sex feeding on Butterfly Bush and Flame Acanthus. Several times one or the other would hover within a few feet of my face. There were a couple of times when they landed on branches of the Butterfly Bush that were no more than three feet from where I was standing.

In the early afternoon I watched three juveniles battling for feeding rights with a lone adult male. Watching their aerial acrobatics was a thrill that was hard to walk away from.
