Monarch Adult Sighted

Date: 09/16/2011

Number: 1

I saw 1 bright, new looking monarch in my yard throughout the daytoday. several days ago I found a very faded, monarch with a small part of its wing missing laying on my driveway seeming to not be able to fly away. I put it on a milkweed flower where it nectared and then layed eggs. I found it later on the ground by the milkweed. It was starting to get dark so I placed it on my juniper tree to roost. the next morning it was stll there roosting. when the sun came out I walked over to put it back on a milkweed flower to nectar and it effortlessly flew away! I was so happy to see it flying because it wouldnt fly the previous day... I'm guessing from exhaustion and or hunger from migrating through drought and fire ravaged Texas.
