The weather has cooled considerably in the last few days, which helped reduce the number of hornets encroaching on the hummingbird feeders and made the insects less aggressive, even sluggish at times. (Making it necessary to shake them off the feeders at refilling time.) This allowed the hummers to feed in relative peace. Even so, their numbers are down. I counted two mature male Anna's this morning, two juvenals, and three female Anna's.
