Hummingbird Sighting

Date: 09/17/2011

Number: 4

I always take my feeder in at night due to raccoons. Now that the nights are much cooler, when I put my feeder out at dusk I always get the greatest spectacle of activity from the hummingbirds. This morning I counted four hummingbirds, one after the other, all female. Once they've all fed then the smallest female takes a nearby perch and guards her feeder for the rest of the day, most of the time, unsuccessfully!
