Found a female monarch laying eggs on Asclepias angustifolia and Asclepias subulata in the back yard this morning. When I went out in the afternoon to look for eggs, I was surprised to find nine 2nd-instar larvae and one 1st-instar larva! By degree days it seems like these eggs were laid around Sunday, September 11th while I was in Kansas. One to two male monarchs in the yard daily since Wednesday.
