With a nice northerly breeze, Monarchs were making their way across central Oklahoma today! From about 11:30 to 11:45, I counted 20 Monarchs in directional S-SW flight about 30-50 ft. in the air. Temps were in the upper 70's, cloudy, with a light NNW wind. After the 1st 15 minutes, they went from occasional to rare, but periodically throughout the day when I had a chance to check. I had about 10 Monarchs stop to nectar, and roost in the trees tonight. With Oklahoma in an extreme drought, and breaking our record of 63 days of triple digit temps, I am so proud to have a small patch of flowers for them to enjoy. Welcome Monarchs!
