They're back since yesterday, Sunday, 9/18/11! All ruby-throated hummingbirds. There are several--probably 3-4--males. They're putting on a real show for our family and neighbors, humming, buzzing, whistling, and zipping around the yard, maneuvering for ownership of about 8 feeders. Their pairs dancing is entrancing! They also visit flowering plants, such as the widow's tears, butterfly weed, butterfly tree, and even sunflowers! I gave a hose shower to a lovely female yesterday noon--before the afternoon showers.
