We were visiting Millwood Lake in southwest Arkansas and saw 1 monarch about 9:15 A.M. It is the first monarch we have seen this fall - usually by this time we have tagged several monarchs and have brought in butterflies or larva for our students to observe. We are in an area that has had a very severe drought this summer and it is very dry and there are few flowers blooming.
