Hummingbird Sighting

Date: 09/10/2011

Number: 1

I spotted a hummingbird in my backyard Gazebo, which at the time had most of the screens zipped up. The bird must have flown inside early in the morning, before 7 AM. I heard the wings flapping and initially thought it was an insect. It took about 15 minutes for me to coax the bird out of the gazebo. It would land on the screened areas which allowed me time to enjoy looking at him. The bird looked healthy and not at all stressed by his situation.
I do have morning glories, hibiscus, zinneas and scarlet runner bean flowering in my garden right now. It was quite cool that morning, so I put out some sugar water in the hummingbird feeder (just in case he came back needing an energy boost). I haven't used the feeder all summer because we have seen the birds at the morning glories/scarlet runner bean and Rose a Sharon many times.
