On the 19th and 20th I continue to see a female monarch laying eggs on the milkweed in my backyard. Just one at a time for 45 minutes or so before she zips over the fence to the next yard in the neighborhood. I've brought in 3 larvae to raise for demonstration purposes and have checked plants for eggs (8-10) since last week, but am not finding any 3-4 instar caterpillars from earlier layings. Ants are particularly numerous this year.
