Monarch PEAK Migration

Date: 09/15/2011

Number: 1

For me to see 63 monarchs in less than 1/2 hour is pretty exciting...I was seeing 3 in my binos at once..they were flying N to S and above them 30+ Broadwinged Hawks flew over in less than 5 minutes...also 18 chimney swifts and a few dragonflies in the mix also...it was very cloudy until a small patch of blue sky opened up and seems like everything just released from the gates...Heavy cloud cover and winds, most of the day...windchills in the 40s....felt cold...now it's sunny and clearing up...wanted it to stay cloudy, so there won't be a chance of frost...high 30's here tonight and tomorrow night. Should be a good weekend to hopefully CATCH and TAG monarchs for my monarch program...(If it warms up on Saturday at Noon).
