Hummingbird Sighting

Date: 09/22/2011

Number: 8

We still have eight hummers frequenting our feeders - they are adult males and I believe they are transient birds, not from our flock of summer visitors. They are very aggressive with each other and are very skittish around us as we work in the lawn or enjoying our deck. They appear tattered with wing and tail feathers being ruffled on the edges. Thier appetites are GOOD and I am having to fill the feeders frequently even at this late date. Last year we had a lone hummer until mid-October and I am wondering if there will be activity at the feeders until that date this year.
