Monarch PEAK Migration

Date: 09/20/2011

Number: 300

I sat in my field at about 6:00 in the evening. It was warm and sunny (about 70 degrees) after a day of rain and showers. I counted over 300 monarchs flying south overhead in a space of 30 minutes. Most seemed to come in well spaced groups with the occasional straggler. Magical!

The next day, the students and I did a count which we entered on this site, and saw 61 in 10 minutes. They are definitely moving.
