Hummingbird Sighting

Date: 09/18/2011

Number: 16

We had a huge "fall out" of Ruby-throated hummers and Baltimore Orioles today here on the midcoast of Texas. We had sixteen hummers to the feeder today. This picture was taken this morning before 9am ... thirteen were seated in this photo ... you can see that some at the front were sharing holes ... ten holes. Altus was refilling every three hours and the orioles stripped out their orange halves in about the same time. Full tonight ... see what the morning brings ... heard of big flights of hawks and kites coming across Galveston Bay, that migration is in full swing too down here! A line of showers came up from the NW, got to within 30 miles ... some folks from San Antonio to Corpus got wet, not sure if it'll look like it tomorrow!
