I have 3 Russ Thompson hummingbirds that come to my feeders on my deck and to a few of my bright purple and bright red flowering herbs. It would appear they are a family as there were only two that came in May. I am new to hummingbird watching but love it. One of the hummingbirds is mostly green with a white throat and thin like a pencil, the next is mostly black with a red throat or collar and the third is mostly green but more vivid in coloring and a bit plumper.
They don't even pay attention to my two white German shepherds or people on the deck any more. They mix well with the other birds that come to the feeders.
I love to listen to them chirp as they zoom around.
