Monarch Fall Roost

Date: 09/22/2011

Number: 100

Near Copan Lake, about 100 Monarchs were clinging to the leaves of a tree right before sunset.

September 25
The roost is about 25 miles from my house. I'm there now, but all I've seen is five individual Monarchs flying around in the general area. None are on the tree that was the roost. It is a willow tree. There are about 80 or 90 willow trees within 100 yards.

The flat area that is the floodplain of Copan Lake, which is next to the willows, is full of blooming wildflowers.
