Monarch PEAK Migration

Date: 09/24/2011

Number: 1

I was out walking my dog this morning and suddenly noticed something quite extraordinary - something I have never noticed before. I saw a Monarch butterfly floating past - then another, then another, then another... all following the same path. There must have been at least 50 (I didn't count, sorry) that flew past us before we went on our way. I watched as they gathered around a butterfly bush to "fill up" before their journey. Then through the park, across the parking lot, down the path next to the Balmy Beach Club then over the roof and out over the lake. I wished many of them a good trip and told them to be safe as it was a long way to Mexico. Quite an experience to find yourself in the middle of a migration!
