Both male and female ruby throated hummingbirds arrived in early August. I have feeders, native plants and flowers and
live in a wooded area. They were the only bird flying during Hurrican Irene. I had removed all my feeders the morning of Irene but when I looked outside the hummingbirds were going to their usual spots for food. I rehung the feeders and watched in awe as they came all day long to the feeders even in the wild wind. and heavy rain. Amazing litte creatures.
