Monarch PEAK Migration

Date: 09/26/2011

Number: 18

Wow! After a rather soggy night, the sun appeared and with it a LOT of migrating monarchs! This is the most of seen in one sitting so far this year. I don't think it's as big as previous years but then again I have seen migrating monarchs for a good month which is very unusual. I think they were more spread out this year due to weather extremes in all areas of the country. I hope the numbers surprise us when the final count is in. All I observed were making the most of this beautiful day and heading due west/southwest in a hurry!
