Sitting along the shore of Lake Michigan I spotted 164 monarchs heading south at 1500L on Sat. 24 2011. While a light rain fell during the two hours, this did not deter the flights.
While most were single travelers, a few times a cluster of three to four were seen. The few that stopped on plants were not observed drinking.
