I have seen hundreds of Monarchs the last two years when they have flown through Chicago, specifically in my neighborhood known as Streeterville (Navy Pier). In 2009 I saw them for the first time in early September and in 2010 I saw them in mid August. This year I have only seen one that was on the ground and I thought it was dead. I nursed it back to life and it flew off. Oddly enough I saw it and took it home one day before the passing of my niece, it flew off shortly before she died.
