Hummingbird Sighting

Date: 09/27/2011

Number: 1

Only one female trying to tank up, yesterday and today. It was 45 degrees last night, so I was surprised to see her at the feeder at 7:30am this morning. This afternoon I noticed her tail is probably damaged. The middle feathers are gone.... when she spreads her tail with the white edging, there are only the two "prongs' showing on the outside edges; probably about a third is missing from the middle. Perhaps she is afraid to start out further, as she senses something is wrong, but she seems to fly around her just fine. Hope she leaves soon and has a good journey. So much drought across Texas must make it hard for them as well.
